Not that it ever got all that hot here, but the temperature seems to be on a downward trend. Now all I can think about are ponchos, ponchos, ponchos! I never imagined I'd be a poncho kind of girl but there were some from the a/w '11 collections that caught my eye and even a few custom made ones. Being on a strict budget with no extra cash on hand to indulge in this craze of mine, I'm going to take a look at some fabric I have on hand and see if I can DIY one. If it works out well, I'll post it on here. If it totally bombs....well, we'll just pretend I never mentioned a thing about it. ;D

I've done some digging and it seems like the most important thing to keep in mind when styling a poncho is proportions. Leggings and skinny jeans seem to be the best options to keep us from looking like we're drowning in fabric. I've considered belting it as well. Are any of you into poncho's for this colder weather? If you are, what are some of your favorite ways to wear them?

Ciao,
xoxo

  1. Ah I just wrote a comment and it just disappeared! Weird!
Just wanted to say that I'm more of a cape kind of girl and wearing it open or with a belt helps your shape, specially if you have bigger boobs. I wear with regular fit jeans and it looks ok. I thing if you wear it leggings you may look like an apple with legs!
Another trick to look taller and leaner is to wear it with heels.
Love that Cinthia Steffe but I'm looking forward to taking a look at yours!;)

  2. I love capes as well! Did you see the red ensemble Sarah Jessica Parker wore premiere of her new comedy I Don't Know How She Does It at the Ritz Carlton hotel in Moscow? Incredibly dramatic. I only wish I had a place to wear something like that outfit. I'd wondered if leggings would make me look like an apple too! Great point about the boobs. Someone was way too generous when handing out my portion of boobs so I might have to rethink the design of this poncho.
