To Be Worn Or Not To Be Worn

It's been at least 3 long years of no make up wearing for me. I've always loved make up but being out of the loop for that long has left me with a whole new set of toys to explore. Have you heard of L'Oreal's Studio Secrets Primer?

It's time to ask the immortal question about yet another beauty product: Is it or is it not, to be worn?

When I reviewed Anjolee's customizable jewelry process I was faced with the prospect of having to post my own photo on here and I scrambled to find a way to look my budget friendly best in those photos. I started with this and these are the results I got:

I decided to show you on my hand because the wrinkles on my hands are much more exaggerated than the ones on my face plus this is how I tried it in the store and these are the results that got me to buy it. If it can do that for my hand, I'll be more than happy with what it does for my face. It totally didn't disappoint. I even had to pull the camera back a bit because there wasn't enough contrast on my hand for it to focus on.

Conclusion? This is definitely a "To Be Worn" product for me.

BTW, don't judge my kindergarten like circle on the back of my hand there. I was drawing it on my laptop mouse with my non-writing hand. We're lucky it even made it on to the picture let alone around the actual area where product was applied ;)

I managed to find the primer on Amazon.co.uk here for just £11.45 in case you want to check it out.

Do you use a primer under your foundation? If so, what's your favorite?

I recently started wearing primer, and it makes SUCH a difference. I love Bare Escentuals!

  3. I've never heard of this one, but looks like it worked well! I have used several primers, but it isn't a "must" for me. I actually use Monistat Anti-Chafe Gel as a face primer most of the time and it's not half bad.

  4. Wow. It's like night and day. I use photo finish by Smashbox and I LOVE it. It's a great primer for powders and it makes your skin look flawless in pictures.

  5. I love this primer. It makes my skin feel silky smooth and (I think) my makeup last longer. I agree, this product is on my "to be worn" category. If I don't use this primer, I tend to grab my Mary Kay primer.

Don't worry about those circles, I can't draw nice circles either. LOL

  6. It IS silky smooth isn't it? At first I was a little weirded out by it - I mean ~what is this stuff made of?? But whatever it is, its super cool. And I agree, my make up seems to last all day when I wear it. Without it, my face eats whatever foundation and powder I've applied within 3-4 hours.

Omg - the circles. Heck, the typing. My left arm is still jacked up from the roller disco and I'm left handed lol. I guess I tried to catch myself without realizing it and I totally strained the muscles in my forearm and tricep. I'm just thankful I can lift my arm above my head again even though it's painful. Me and my adventurous side eh? Ah well. At least I can truly say my life is never boring lol.

  7. oooo another toy for me to try? yay! do you wear any liquid foundation over it? How well does it sit on top? Does it get streaky if you're not careful?

  8. You have amazing skin Cassy. It's no wonder you can take or leave a primer. I feel like I have pores large enough that the titanic could've sailed through them so it was a great feeling to use this primer and have the photos actually turn out well. If I come across that Monistat anti-chafe gel, I'll give it a go. Maybe I'll do a comparison between the two? hehehe One is bound to be cheaper than the other and I'm always on the look out for a way to save money!

  10. I wish I had amazing skin! I have the beginnings of rosecea (thanks mom!), big 'ol pores and lots of break outs (though my skin is more dry than oily) I'm just super lazy about using primer (well, I'm lazy about everything, lol) I found the Monistat gel to do about the same job as Smashbox's Photo Finish (both are silicon based if that's an issue for your skin) but the Monistat gel is only like $7 vs. $40-something I think for the Smashbox. I'm also cheap in my laziness ;P

  11. You made me curious about the base of the L'Oreal primer so I checked into it. It's also silicone based. It didn't seem to bother my skin. It's so great to find a product that can achieve the same results for a fraction of the cost.

  12. I'm going to have to try it... I absolutely love Smashbox Photo Finish primer, and I usually buy it for about $50 when they get these big, awesome tubes of it once or twice a year. Lasts a long time, but I'm always down with an effective, cheaper alternative! I wanna try. Loved the "BTW, don't judge..." bit, haha.

  13. I don't use primer under my foundation but only because I'm really SUPER lazy when it comes to makeup. I put on foundation half-heartedly, too. But I'm really trying to be better with applying stuff on my face, especially with spf moisurizer! I laughed at your little purple circle, but it's so true. It's hard to draw shapes with a mouse!
