It's Like Cotton Candy

I've been out and about and up to all kinds of things. To catch everyone up just a touch, I'll take a  quote from one of my ex-neighbors, "I done did get my hair done y'all."

There's blonde underneath. It's that blissfully white light blonde that's always reminded me of spun sugar (the kind that's not pink.)

I've always been a fan of trying new stuff with my hair. The other day, Laura took the plunge to green and she looks fabulous! As a shout out to her, I have to share a photo of a gem I discovered on one of my adventures.

(They're all waiting for you Laura!)

It was so tempting to join her with her green hair but my sallow skin can't carry that. Maybe I'll try something close and go a bit more blue when I get tired of this.

So, I have to ask if you guys like what you can see of my hair? I also want to know what your wildest hair experiments have been. If you send me pictures, I'll happily do a post on my readers and their best/craziest/coolest hair styles!

  1. I'm not that adventurous with my hair. Although I've always wanted to shave one side of it, but never had the guts to do it...yet. I do dye my hair a lot. That's the only thing I do with my hair. I like peekaboo highlights and I want to try ombre. Heck, if you think green will look nice, I say go for it! If it doesn't come out right, just re-dye it. Go for it, girl!

  2. I would LOVE to see you in ombre hair! I think that is a fantastic look and you'd rock it. I love the green highlights on Laura with her natural blue black hair. It makes the green look almost torquoise-y since the color isn't solid and the highlights rest against that beautiful jet black hair of hers. My olive skin (read bizarrely sallow there) would end up reacting with the green and I'd look like a giant olive head. I'd definitely have to do a more blue based color that might have some green in it. I'd also only do it as highlights as I've done now. I'm exercising some patience for the mo' though because the look I want out of this particular color addition, requires much longer hair. Like a reverse ombre. ;)

  3. Husbit currently has bleached blonde hair - the various shades of blue and purple keep washing out. Mine's currently fading shades of red because I can't dye it exciting colours for work - I'd LOVE to go black, blue or purple but got in enough trouble for the red (it came out brighter than expected).

It does reach my bum, though, even when plaited, and is insanely thick so I don't mind too much.

  4. That sounds really fun! I'm definitely growing my hair out longer. Would it be worth trying to step your hair down every so often? Like, now it's red, then maybe it's a slightly darker red, then a step darker, then a step darker...till you reach the darkest shade you can without work freaking out?

  5. Loving Laura's green, too. I was scared the other day when I thought it was gone as it suits her so well. I'm like you, though. My skin wouldn't work with green. What I DO think is your own new hair suits you amazingly. I've never done an under color like that before. I have had my share of fun hair, though, my favorite being pink and blue (like the other spun sugar that you weren't talking about ;P)

  6. I have ALWAYS wanted to do this white blonde hair but with my skin tone, it just doesn't work. So the other day, I realized, huh - I'll keep the stuff around my face and on top my natural color. That will keep me from looking washed out, give me what I want, and let's be honest, be slightly different than the norm. ;) I have ALWAYS wanted to do pink or lavender hair but again, felt limited by my skin tone. Hmmm, You know what? When I get bored of this blonde, I might have to consider doing reverse ombre or peek-a-boo highlights of darker colors to lighter. Say navy blue to turquoise, or purple to pink? What do you think?

  7. YES YES YES! I love it! I love Laura's too! You know I want some rose gold action, but I'll have to start going to a new stylist to get it. The wildest thing I've done is bright red and blonde w/ thick highlights. It was great, but super high maintenance.

  8. You are too sweet, Rachel! I totes love the blonde underneath your hair. It's the first step to getting other colors!!!! Think maybe PURPLE or PINK! and oh em geee... so many SPARKLY hello kitty things. They seriously ARE all waiting for me. and I'd nab them all starting with that pink mermaid!

  9. Thanks Lindsay! I would love to see your red and blonde with thick highlights. That sounds awesome. ;) I recently saw someone with half their hair really long, half shaved, and the shaved portion was dyed with purple leopard spots. Wanna talk about high maintenance? Way cool but I have no idea how she stays on top of that!

  10. I'd totally go the Purple and pink way! Cassy and I were just talking about it. I wonder if I could get that done ombre style?

  11. So cool! I wish I had the time and money for that. I would also love to go fully bright red, like a superhero. How badass would that be?

  12. I think a darker blue or teal would be awesome for fall/winter! I always stayed away from purple myself as it's a monster to keep up with (fades quickly, needs a LOT of care as opposed to the normal non-capitalized lot that other colors require)
I think most colors would look awesome on you, though! I live vicariously through you all now. Someone last night actually told me my hair was really boring, lol. She remembers me from my many colors days.

  13. Love the hair. Good for you for being brave. I am too much of a wimp to do anything remotely "crazy" with mine:)
