Beet It

Looks super appetizing doesn't it? No? It would surprise you how yummy it is. Current events in my household have caused me to get all mad scientisty. One of my kids is ridiculously constipated and I'm just about desperate to help them out.  I cracked out my blender and started grabbing all kinds of goodness to help get things cranking for them.

Colon health is key for our overall health. If you or any of your kiddies are suffering from this unpleasant condition, hopefully this tasty recipe will provide some relief.

1 Cooked beet root
1/2 small avocado
2 cloves of garlic
1/4 - 1/2 inch thick slice of ginger
1 tbsp organic raw coconut oil
1 tbsp ground flax seed*
1 tbsp acacia fiber*
1/4 c prune juice
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp turmeric
1 tbsp marshmallow root
1 tbsp manuka honey
3 c lemonade*

Throw all the ingredients in the blender and blend till smooth. It should be fairly liquid, easy to drink, and tasty! This beverage is packed full of great nutrients, anti-aging goodies, and liver detoxifying bonuses.

Happy drinking everyone!

  1. I actually think this looks pretty good. Unfortunately ingredient-wise you lost me until I saw marshmallow. Then when I realized it wasn't Lucky Charms cereal, you lost me again, lol. Not that I don't like a good smoothie drink now and again! I don't know if you have them over your way, but I love ones by the brand Bolthouse Farms. Wonder if any of them would be good for your kiddo. I get the ones with lots of vitamin C.

  2. I haven't seen the Bolthouse Farms drinks here. Weirdly, my son is allergic to apples and most commercial smoothies or drinks have some sort of apple in them. This particular episode of his is the result of exposure to apple or something else he's allergic to. It's very unfortunate and traumatizing. When this first started happening I had to dig deep into digestive health and the things I make for him have to be tasty or he won't consume them. I know it's effective because both my husband and I consumed what was left over after serving our son. Hopefully this kind of beverage isn't necessary in your life, but if it ever is I hope you enjoy it. ;)

  3. Man that stinks. Apples are tough to be allergic to, they're in so many fruit drinks. My friend is allergic to mangoes. That's another thing that seems to be in EVERYTHING including a lot of cosmetics!

  4. I've never had beets in a smoothie before! AND I've never used marshmallow root either! Gotta find these, or at least attempt the beet!
