Versatile Blogger Award

I want to post this simply to thank Cassy for giving me the award. I thought it was super sweet of her to award it to me.

The rules:

1. Thank the person who awarded you.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Award 15 bloggers.

~ 1st shared thing: Magnolias have the best smell in the world to me. Whenever I pass one in bloom, I have to stop a moment just to soak it in.

~ 2nd shared thing: I have a birthmark the size of a dime in the shape of the state of Texas.

~ 3rd shared thing: I am slightly obsessed with spy stories. I can't tell you how many hours I've spent watching shows like "Alias" non-stop in box-set form.

4th shared thing: I loooove laying in the sun on a warm day. I have absolutely no desire to sun tan or get skin cancer but it's so nice. Nothing else seems to exist in those moments. The wind, the warmth, maybe some wind chimes in the distance. It's beautiful.

5th shared thing: I love the ocean. I can't imagine living anywhere that wasn't near the ocean.

6th shared thing: I love kneading bread. I don't know how or where I learned what the texture of bread dough should feel like, but I've always known. It's better than play-doh and it smells awesome.

7th shared thing: I desperately want to be able to garden well but I am terrible at it on an almost ridiculous level. I have some vegetables in pots I'm trying to grow right now and it sends me in to emotional tail spins when they don't do well. I start making absurd analogies to my parenting/nurturing skills and if I can't grow plants, how in the world am I growing children?!?!?

And now my selectees for the Versatile Blogger Award! For lifestyle reads these are ones that make me smile and that I always look forward to:

I tried avoiding re-awarding if I noticed someone else had already awarded someone but gosh darn it! That's hard!! If anyone else wants to hand out the Versatile Blogger Award, let me know. I'm always on the look out for more interesting reads.

  1. Teehee, I'm not a good plant mama, either. I bought myself a cactus because they're supposed to be easy - you don't even water them very often. I drowned it. Another sign from the universe to not have kits. I might water them too much...

  2. Cassy, I don't even know where to begin. You have no idea. I actually had a pediatrician warn me that I could literally "over water" my kids because I'm a Southerner and we often make that kind of a mistake when moving our kids to a colder climate. You want to talk about feeding my complex about my lack of gardening skills and whether or not I'm a good parent - holy jiminy crickets ppl. I still to this day have NO idea whether that guy was as crazy as he sounded to me or not. He had his own complex about being short and parents not giving their kids enough milk and it making their kids shorter than they should've been. Seriously. I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried.

  3. OMG, thank you so much for this AWESOME award!

I want to be a great farmer too, but my green thumb is pretty lacking these days. I must say, plants are harder than children. At least your children can tell you if they are hungry or full. With plants, it's a guessing game. I never know if I'm watering enough or too much.

You have a very cool birthmark. At least your birthmark isn't the size of texas that looks like a dime...now that would be hilarious, no? LOL I have a birthmark on my butt crack. No joke. Well, it's more of a mole than a birthmark. I should keep an eye on it, but I have no way of seeing it. HAHA. Okay, I think I've shared enough for today.

    Congrats on your award!

  5. do you want to knead my bread for me? I hate hate hate that part in the bread-making process, which is why I NEVER make bread at home. But the taste of homemade bread is not to be beat! Sigh, if only we lived closer to each other! Also, how rad that you have a shaped birthmark! And how similar is it to Texas? I mean, does it have the general shape? or is it DEAD ON? panhandle and all?

  7. I know there is a point that you can flood a person's system, but I would doubt that you could reach that point without literally sticking a tube down your kid's throat and dumping in liquids (and if you hit that point, I think there is more to worry about than "over-watering") I do sometimes wonder about pediatricians. The ones my mom took my brother to always seemed hellbent on proving my mom was beating my brother. I don't know why, I mean is there a reward for most child-abusers reported? (is it like getting the best prize for selling the most Girl Scout cookies?)
